The Gospel of Salvation – Part 1

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Why Do We Need Salvation?

Man cannot live in the presence of a Holy God unless he is sinless and perfect. Since we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, (Rom.3:23), He has provided the world a reconciliation to Him through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We have access to God by believing from our heart in His one great sacrifice for us on the cross. When we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Christ Jesus arose from the dead, we receive His righteousness, then we have passed from death to life. He offers this gift of eternal life to the world without condemnation.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Also in 1 Cor. 15:1- 4

1 Cor 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1 Cor 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

This salvation is offered not only to the Jew or the Greek, but also to the World for the obedience of faith. It is a gift from God to anyone that believes in this gospel. He came into the world to save sinners.

John 3:17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

1 Tim 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

There is no work that we can do to receive eternal life. This salvation is by grace alone. It is a free gift upon this belief. Once this salvation is given by believing in the gospel of salvation, then the young believer is sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.

These Ephesian believers, who came out of the previous dispensation of grace, heard that same gospel of salvation in chapter 10 verses 9-13 of Romans. They had confessed with their mouths and believed in their hearts that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and because of this they received His righteousness. Because of their faith in this gospel of salvation the Lord sealed them with the Holy Spirit. This sealing of the Holy Spirit is a pledge from God that they will receive eternal life and that they are His. This is given immediately upon belief in the gospel of salvation. The Lord doesn’t wait until the end of a person’s life to give His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given also for discernment and growth for the young believer, which can only come from the pure milk of the Word. God, who cannot lie, never falls back on His gifts or promises. His gift of the Holy Spirit to believers is a guarantee and promise of eternal life. God has never backed out of a promise, for if he did, he would be a liar, and we all know that He cannot lie.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Rom 11:29 For the gifts, (this includes the gift of eternal life), and calling of God are without repentance.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

There is no evidence in Scripture that the Lord can or will “unseal” a believer. Our salvation is as secure as the promise of the Giver of life. His promises have NEVER failed. The Lord would never leave or forsake us.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
